The date is set and we’re gearing up for our first-ever Summer Solstice event at historic Cedar Grove Cemetery.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.
This celebration will recognize Cedar Grove's historic roots in the Rural Cemetery Movement, when burial grounds were intended as places to connect with nature while also honoring loved ones who had passed. June 14 also is Flag Day and there will be a flag collection and information about proper care and disposal of flags at the event.
There will be lots of family friendly activities, including:
Scavenger Hunt
American Flag Collection (bring your flags to surrender for proper disposal by members of the local VFW)
Rock Painting
Guided Cemetery Tour
Watercolor Class (bring your own supplies!)
Yoga
Dancing by Mystic Garland Dancers
Daughters of American Revolution (DAR)
There are still opportunities to volunteer to help that day - the LAST planning meeting is June 8 at 5:30 pm at the Cemetery Office - please join us then, if you are able.
We look forward to working together to make this a meaningful and memorable event.
