Summer Solstice Event Planning at Cedar Grove

The date is set and we’re gearing up for our first-ever Summer Solstice event at historic Cedar Grove Cemetery.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.
This celebration will recognize Cedar Grove's historic roots in the Rural Cemetery Movement, when burial grounds were intended as places to connect with nature while also honoring loved ones who had passed. June 14 also is Flag Day and there will be a flag collection and information about proper care and disposal of flags at the event.
Activities such as yoga, watercolor painting, children's games, historic tours and a performance by the Mystic Garland Dancers are planned.

Help Organize an Activity

If there’s an activity on the list below that you’d like to help organize, please let us know as soon as possible. If you have another idea not listed here and would like to lead it, we’d love to hear from you.

Possible activities include:

  • Tree-plant walk

  • Rock painting

  • Scavenger hunt

  • Bulb or flower planting

  • Native American ceremony

  • Healing power of rocks, minerals, and crystals

  • Meditation

  • General logistics (parking, tickets, set-up, clean-up, refreshments)

We won’t tackle everything, but plan to select about six activities for the day.

Two activities that are certain:
